Fat man walks across United States of America to lose weight.

Steve Vaught, a formerly fit US soldier, got into depression when he got involved and started over-eating when he was involved in a car accident that killed two men, and he got fat. This got him so overweight that he could barely walk a few metres without getting breathless. So he decided to walk across the country from California to New York in an endeavour to lose weight. This 40-year-old man first weighted almost 30 stone (190 kg) when he left San Diego lost just over seven stone (45 kg) at the end of his 13-month journey. He got through 15 pairs of shoes, 45 pairs of socks and 6 rucksacks over the course of his journey. He said at the end of his journey he had found that being happier was the secret to being thinner. Mr Vaught now plans to publish a book about his story.

Highest man-made temperature

The highest man-made temperature of 2 billion degree Centigrade was achieved at the Sandia National Laboratories at Albuquerque, New Mexico, using the Z-Machine. In comparison, the temperature of the surface of the sun is 6,000 degree Centigrade, while the temperature deep within the core of the sun is 15 million degree Centigrade.
